Esteban, a high-school combative teacher, is forced to ask for a transfer after a presumed conspiracy in the school where he taught Latin.

Being forty years old, he thinks that he has already seen everything and assumes that his new position at the little village is going to be fine. He looks forward to live in peace, with no complications, and in order to achieve that, he convinces himself about the advantages of living in a place where the moral impurity of big cities is not yet installed.

He will soon discover that this preestablished concept is far away from the reality of the town. He goes through many different situations: he falls in love again (something he thought would never happen again), he gets involved in political corruption, magic spells, gambling houses conspiracies, a murder, etc. Different things that make him think about the real meaning of living.
